Close, but not quite.

The only purpose for tame roaches is to use them as pets or decorations.  This is true for most tamed creatures, though not all of them.

...my question is, if I tame a spider, can I get an endless supply of silk from it?

Why not allow to creat a ring or arena to make little or not-so-little pets spar or just make contests of speed or something? So a dwarf could own that roach and if others do as well, then you could have 'roach racing'
