Well, this is the first time I've seen one of my dwarves scream for this. Any idea what they want?

Have you tried stone blocks yet?  I think I saw that on the wiki's talk page for Strange Mood, but it hasn't made it into the article yet.

One of mine was muttering about ore; he dragged three kilograms of copper ore into the forge, but apparently needed some other ore I didn't have, went insane and died.

Do the Dwarvish words they mutter have any relation to the kind of ore needed?
