Finding dwarven fortresses
« on: September 26, 2013, 12:11:43 am »

I can't for the life of me find any dwarven fortresses in adventure mode; it's like the whole world is populated solely by humans. The few times that they even show up on the map I can never find the entrances. Is there a trick to finding these stupid things, or is it simply a matter of painstaking tedium?

As yet they do not actually exist. They will be in the next update however.

And so it was written that until The Great Toad descends from the sky and wipes the worlds clean that the Dwarves shall remain beneath the earth: the surface is not ready for their industry, the Elves shall remain hidden from the eyes of Men: they guard the forests in secret, and the Goblins shall hide in the shadows: their dark towers destroyed and forgotten.
But when The Great Toad returns and purges the worlds so that they must start anew the Dwarves shall rupture the earth and spread forth, the Elves shall rise from hiding and the Goblins shall return in monstrous Dark Fortresses to bring fear back into the hearts of Man, Elf and Dwarf alike. Trees shall take a new form and a creature's feet will no longer be bound to stay fixed upon the earth. Communities will feud and bicker, battles will be fought with a greater ferocity than ever before, though not all defeats will leave casualties.
The Toad will returneth, and he will speak but three words: "Losing is Fun."

So does that mean there is no way to retire an adventurer in such a way that they might potentially migrate to my fortress?

Actually, if you are where the mountain hall would be if it did exist, you can still retire.

Also if you're really yearning to encounter non-human races in the world you can edit the entity raws and change the default site of each race to CITY. This will cause them to appear in a newly generated world with towns and hamlets, just like humans.
