Colossus can be caged, yes?
« on: January 17, 2008, 06:12:00 pm »

I searched the wiki, i searched the boards, and couldn't find consistent reports. Some people say if you lay "enough" cage traps down, it will work "Eventually". Some say they were invulnerable to any traps.

Does anyone have any real experience with trying to cage a colosuss? Because one happened to find his way into the northern area of my map and is moving slowly down so.. haha.. yeah.. i dont think my unarmed, leather equipped "fortress guards" are gona have much to say about it...

I dont know about cage traps, but regular traps will hit the colossus fine. They just don't normally do enough damage to particularly bother it.

"enough" cage traps are required to trap the colossus. and "enough" is 1. if the colossus step on a cage trap, is caged, no matter the material or cuality of the cage or the mechanism.

my defense system consists on 2 1 tile passages with 4 weapon traps full of masterwork obsidian swords, and then a 3 tile-wide passage covered with cage traps (arround 30). goblins invaders come, have his limbs removed on the weapon traps, and the survivors are nicely caged.

I think in the old versions megabeasts were only occasionally caged in cagetraps or something, so that might be where that information is coming from.

Also, drowning chambers seem to work great against Megabeasts. I've just recently successfully drowned a Titan.

If you manage to cage a colossus, toss the cage in a pit and never touch it! ever.

That is a myth. Only megabeasts that have harmed (killed?) one of your dwarves can't be tamed.

If it was a Megabeast, I reckon it'd be pretty hard to harm a dwarf without killing it...
