i have two questions on this topic:

1. Will weapon traps be loaded with wooden or bone bolts?

2. What are iron arrows used for? i seem to only get them from goblins, and i dont know of any use for them except to melt them down.

You can choose what weapons to load into your weapon traps and if you put a  crossbow in there, then I would postulate that once you run out of proper bolts, then the dwarves will use bone and wood.

And arrows are used for bows, which can't be used by Dwarves. You can use them in spike traps though.
