beast of ice
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:05:45 pm »

a forgotten beast made of ice got stuck in a lake, so i sent my marksdwarves to take care of it. so far, all it's doing is chipping.

the beast can't get to me because it keeps breathing poisonous vapors, which is out of range of my marksdwarves

just how strong is ice? i'm worried because all the leftover bolts are stuck in the lake.

Does your embark freeze during winter? If so, you won't have to worry too much about the FB. Unless it's an underground lake.

As a general rule, "solid" FBs made of various substances such as rock, metal, or in this case ice, are very difficult to kill as they do not bleed, and can only reliably be killed through bisection or decapitation.

it's an underground lake.

i took care of it. it took over 200 bolts and then a hammerdwarf destroyed its lower body with a silver hammer.

-_-

unfortunately they were exposed to the vapour.  so far it has some strange effects. it causes dizziness and the dwarf to track blood all over the floor, but it doesn't cause them to faint or turn pale, which are signs of blood loss. all vitals at white. i think they can live through it though.

i had that syndrome once, some evil goo caused minor bloodloss, it mostly made a mess and killed most of small animals like rabbits and cats..

You had a pretty great archery target there.
