Are plump helmets, rat tails, sweet pods and cave wheat all mushrooms?

I'm of the belief tha plump helmets are kinda like pumpkins, and cave wheat is wheat that grows in caves.

I'm sure we'll get more information on these plants and such eventually.

Well the reason that I ask is that the only plant that will grow without sunlight are mushrooms.

Here we have dwarves.

In reality. This is a fantasy setting. Maybe they use something other than sunlight.

I've always assumed plump helmets are mushrooms, pig tail is some twisty fibrous plant, cave wheat is...well, wheat that grows in a cave, and sweet pods are equally self explanatory.

Actually, Pyramid Online had an article about this recently. And while I don't think the plants are chemosynthetic, they might be manasynthetic, or the river mud is simply rich in organic materials they're living off of.

There are also lichens and grasses (mostly lichens) which do not require sunlight.

Plump helmets are indeed mushrooms. Toad mentioned that on IRC a while back-this is why they have "spawn" instead of seeds.

As for the rest of the cave plants, I picture them as generally looking something like this plant, and maybe working a similar way.
