Missing Maggots?

Okay, so I just caught a good 4 purring maggots and got my farmer-dudes to milk them.
Now they're gone!

Do maggots escape if they're milked and not tame?

Dwarves will take live purring maggots and eat them. I believe it's a known bug.

You can't milk tame purring maggots.
