Guide to research and blueprints?
« on: September 11, 2013, 11:04:01 am »

I'm trying out the research system for the first time, trying to make a blast furnace and a crucible. Is there some kind of a guide that walks through the whole trajectory?  There are so many reactions listed in the architect's study that I can't piece together what I'm supposed to do from start to finish, or what I should expect to happen.  Any suggestions?

Wait for the next version, I deleted blueprints.

For your version: Architect makes a blueprint. Just activate "start making blueprint (I)", the rest is automatic.

To research: Researcher makes a discovery. Just activate "conduct research in smelting (I)", the rest is automatic. Has a 16% chance to fail, in case of the Crucible, if I remember correctly.

You as the player only as to start with the reaction that has a (I) in it, the other steps are lined up behind it automatically. There was also a table posted somewhere with all the reagents... dont know exactly where though.

Give a dwarf a fish, you feed him for a season.
Give a dwarf a Fishpond, couple of buckets, build a Fishery, and enable Fishfarming labor; you feed him for a lifetime. (And get someone to clean and prep the fish)

Thanks Meph.  What reagents are required for the architect design process?  Billy Jack, that is extremely helpful - is there an equivalent for the architect's study?

Ink + Paper/Vellum/Papyrus. Thats it. The 10 steps were only to slow it down, but now a new version is out anyway. ;)
