I recently had a fey mood on a meltal smith. However it happend in hte spring of my second year and it took 2 seasons to get both the workshop and teh materials that he wanted. Finaly he gets them, and starts building. some time later (another season.) he builds a tin flask. and I receive the message (so and so hasgained experience.) and I go look at him expecting him to be legendary in something. No such luck. all his stats were identical to before teh fey mood.

soo does this happen often? has it happened to anyone else?

It's called possesion. Dwarf don't get legendarised if they make aftifact while possesed.

Does anyone have any idea what (if anything) causes possessions over fey/secretive moods? It seems like I get them much more often when I play treeless maps, and thus dwarves sleep on stone floors in a barracks - but it's not about just mood, since a statue garden and dining room keep everyone at ecstatic regardless.

Of course, it might just be disappointment bias that causes me to notice them.

No it was definately Fey not possesed. Since then I have had a Farmer becore Fey (same as before with same results) and 2 other dwarves go Possesed.
