Water flow and spreading

1st time poster, long time lurker:

So it seems that tiles with water also have a depth attribute of 1-7. What I'd like to know is how many empty tiles does a single, depth 7 tile spread to when released?

It will spread to fill seven squares with depth 1 water.  :)
