sorry if this is a dumb question or if it's already been asked, but i recently downloaded masterwork, and when I choose an embark location i am given the choice of picking a dwarf starting kit, orc, or kobold.  i'll pick an orc or kobold, and it will say "embark could not be completed" or whatever, and  then i'd have to manually pick my stuff.  once that was done, i'd embark, and my guys would be dwarves.  what is wrong?

At the configs settings, did you pick Kobolds or Orcs as the playing race? You have to select one race at the config menu, then start the game and generate a new world.

where do i configure the settings?  i'm sorry if i'm annoying you, i'm so new to modding but Masterwork looks like alot of fun

You have to use the Masterwork settings application in the folder you downloaded. There, you can choose whether you play as Orc, Kobold or Dwarf. The "Embark Profiles" show, even if you're not playing that race at the moment.

There are lots of other things you can change to make your game different in there, too.

If your post had annoyed me I wouldn't even had answered, don't worry. As masterdircord said, in the Masterwork directory you should find an .exe file called "Settings". Open it and you should see several options. Particularly, you should see that above the "Play Now!" button and under the icon of a dwarf there are the option "Kobolds: NO" and "Orcs: NO". You have to click on one of the two to change it to yes, then launch the game and generate a new world for that race.
