So during my last 2 ambushes I had 3 dwarves knocked into cagetraps (so on 2 occasions). 1 or 2 I got into my animal stockpile, but before I could build them the dwarves died, and I have not found a single corpse, not in a burial receptical, not in the cage.


Is this a bug?

I've seen this before if you are using a graphics pack (I saw it happen with Phoebus) where the dorfs who are in cages visually show as being corpses after the cages are placed. I think if you build the cage and link a lever you can get them out that way but it hasn't happened to me for a while now.

Have you checked with k? How about in the stockpiles screen?

Some items don't show up in cages visually.

Stuffs in cages doesn't shows up for me, I've found all kinds of things in random cages before. Only thing that's shown were seeds from taming animals, and I had to get those dumped somewhere to get it out of cages.

Might've changed since last time I've had caged dwarf died was back in 31.08, their corpses didn't showed visually, but inspecting the inside of their cages showed it. Cages' name doesn't changes for it either.
