My fortress is still growing and I finaly made a small army of 5 dorfs, but I can't make them train? I assigned them wooden weapons.

You don't need to assign them wooden weapons, their real ones will do fine, they'll just tap each other.

Make sure they're set to active in the (m)ilitary - (a)lerts screen.  You'll then have to go to (s)cheduling if you want to adjust the training settings, but the default should be alright at first.

Then, make sure you've given them a barracks and set that barracks for them to train in.

Also helps if you lower the minimum number of dwarfs that need to be training. Nothing worse than 9 dwarfs waiting on that one guy in bed before they train.

shees, is that myth still around? while setting it to 9 won't hurt much since there is usually one missing, keeping it at 10 won't make them wait untill there are 10. You can have 2 groups of 3 attending different demonstrations, 2 sparring, 1 sleeping and one getting a drink, even though the "minimum" is at 10. If you set the minimum at 3, you'll see 3 doing some kind of training and the rest goofing off or doing exercises alone

Check their job, they'll be standing around if the barrack's set to train, but they'll be drilling, watching or giving demos.
