Do it. I bet you'll regret it if you don't :P

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Is she bona fide Spanish or Hispanic? Because attitudes to courtship may vary widely.

She's from Catalonia, so for all intents and purposes, she's bona fide Spanish ;)

I'm going to do the smart thing here and disengage. This isn't a hill I paticularly care to die on.

go for it but don't be too optimistic. Relationships here tend to progress at a snail-pace.

Then again, my experiences are from small cities in which people tend to be indrawn and prudish, so who knows, big city girl + being-abroad-deinhibitions might work in your favor.

DO IT, even if you fail it's good practice.  "Who dares, wins".  Do it soon, before she puts you too firmly in the "friend zone", that just makes it much harder to get something started romantically.  Be hopeful of success but don't let yourself get bummed out by failure - rejection can be for a lot of reasons, almost none of which are caused by defects in you personally.  A lot are circumstances or limitations of the other person, some are from things you could learn to do better.

Most of what you said is really good, but this is kind of bad.

Yes, many women will be less likely to date a guy once she knows him well.  However, she would have lost interest upon getting to know the same things in a romantic context.

If she's a lady of high class, you might want to try channeling a spirit animal.
