Win condition?
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:59:00 am »

Is there a win condition for the fortress mode currently?

I've understood the player can win the adventure mode, but is it possible to achieve a goal in the fortress mode?

Currently it seems surviving the first winter is a large early game goal, with farming and food supply problems.

After that? My experience fails me, but does anyone know?

I think the win condition is "Mine every piece of rock". Have fun!

There is no 'game over you win' for either version.  In dwarf mode, you are supposed to be attempting to amass the most wealth.  Of course, like in adventure mode, your goals are your own.

Once you get large enough to get a noble (it doesn't take too long), you can consider satisfying the nobles a goal if you like.  That will eventually drive you into the end-game.

Also note that mining every piece of rock will inevitably kill all your dwarves.
