No water in caverns... pools frozen most of the year

So how do I get a well? This embark seems to have everything but clay and coal... and decent water.

I've breached all three cavern layers, Magma pools open in the top two. The top cavern has no vegetation whatsoever, so I didn't bother exploring it (for now). The bottom two have vegetation, but after full exploration still no sign of any water.

Am I missing something??? It's summer and my murky pools are still frozen, but I'm thinking I'll drain one use that for my well, yeah?

Pump the water underground when it is thawed out. That will clean any stagnation out of it and it will also keep it thawed.
