You call upon the powers of magic, and cast Grow Beard (Wizard). A small, luxurious coat of hair grows on your chin. Next, you begin wriggling under the door. Peering through, you see a small storage room, containing a large and mean-looking rat. It begins squeaking angrily at you.
"Get out! This is mine! All mine! Go away!"

Leave, and head past the room we just entered from to the South. No proper wizard would enter a fight with such a lowlife, after all.
