Adventure Mode Getting Money/Gear
« on: June 13, 2008, 03:53:00 am »

I've been playing and having 'fun' in Adventure mode for some time now, and I was wondering...how do I get money or better gear?  I mean, the starting stuff is pretty decent, but I can't seem to find any loot of any kind at all on quests or most encounters.

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

You're supposed to make it in Dwarf mode and then loot it in Adventure mode- because A Mode ain't fleshed out much at all right now.

Hmm...is there a way to change it so that corpses and chunks of corpse are worth money?  Put Adventure mode onto the Meat Standard of currency?

There is an adventurer skills arc thats planned, but with all the other arcs that are more important it could take a while.

But imagine creating a roast from those lions you just killed that can buy out a caravan.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Heh, yeah.
Another thing; playing as a marksdwarf, how does one get more bolts?  I can't seem to find any in stores.
Though, somehow I get the feeling the answer is "Build them in fortress mode.".

It is.

You can pick up weapons from fallen sentient enemies like goblins and sell them for money at a shop!

Oh well.

Yeah, well, I remember the last few times I did that.
I got shot in the face before I took two steps into the fortress.

Sneak around the outside of dark fortresses, and you can often find bits of random loot.  The key is 'sneak', to avoid finding fast-moving arrows.

You of course mean "Barge in with an axe and kill everything".

Otherwise it's just pansy and elf-like.

Come now, you wouldn't find an elf collecting -mule bone ring-s and such.  They'd probably be horrified at the thought!

Besides, Wild Goose seems to have some bizarre prejudice against getting shot in the head.
