Workshop Profile Min/Max question
« on: October 20, 2007, 05:20:00 pm »

Do workshop profile limits on skill level correlate to the task queued up, or are they general?

I'm trying to get as many craftdwarves making non-legendary clothing and crossbow bolts as possible.

If I set my craft workshop to exclude everyone over Master and queue up wooden bolts, will my legendary bone carver be able to dabble with wood carving?  Or will he be excluded because of his skill in bone carving?

Similarly, if I set my looms and clothesmaker's shops to exclude everyone over Master, will my legendary stone carver be able to dabble in the fabric arts?

Congrats on the 10,000th post on this section  :p

Anyway, I would imagine it's probably on a per-skill basis, but I've never experimented with it.

It's according to skill needed. At least I've never had any problems with my forge  set to minimum legendary skill.

But be careful with setting allowed workers, when I did that it overrode the minimum skill and my legendary weaponsmith tried to make armor and the armorsmith weapons.

EDIT:
Oh sorry, only read the first part of the post. But I believe that it should work

On this note:

I have no problems either, when I make my Legendary Masons and Miners and Engravers do carpentry (because they have no skill) to make no quality beds for my citizen housing. I set the workshop profile to Dabbling (min) - Dabbling (max), and enable my legendaries to do carpentry, they churn out no quality beds (and the occasional -bed-).

However, my testing is inconclusive so far for crafter's shops specifically. If I have a Legendary Stone Carver, but the shop is set for Bone Bolts on repeat, will the profile check any skill associated with that building (Bone, Wood, Stone Carving...), or just the specific one for the specific task queued (Bone Carving only), which my Legendary Stone Carver should be able to do.
