Inheriting traits?
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:22:35 pm »

I'm making a spartan fort right now, and so all the weak dwarves are getting killed, so the average dwarf is quite strong, tough, etc. but when they have children, will their children be more likely to have good attributes? It would be awesome if they did, cause then I could have families designated for each job, because they would have the right attributes for it.

I know that attributes can be trained, but having better starting attributes makes the cap higher right? I'm not actually sure about this^, but I think I read it somewhere.

But anyway, does anyone know if dwarves can actually pass on genes to their kids?

This thread.

I haven't kept up with it all, but if I have not misinterpreted the information shared in other posts I have seen made by weird then I feel it is safe to say that some qualities do appear to be genetic. I believe weird is presently running a eugenics program for his dwarves, and I recall one specific instance of a couple that had a particularly high neurosis rating between the two and they kept producing babies with similar undesirable traits and weird kept having to cull their children.

Thanks. Eugenics was exactly what I was thinking.
