I would like to ensure I have seeds for all of my plants. Say, pig tails. Do I get seeds by using them?

You get seeds by eating a full grown plant. The seeds will drop on the ground. You DON'T get seeds by brewing or cooking the plant though, so if you want to make sure you don't run out, turn off cooking and brewing for that particular plant in the kitchen screen.

That being said, in the new version I believe farmers produce more plants when they are more skilled, so running out of seeds may be less of an issue.

Actually you do get the seeds from brewing the plants, just not from cooking.
