Siege intensity
« on: June 12, 2008, 01:42:00 am »

I've removed babysnatching and itemstealing (kobold) and get frequent double-sieges. Sieges come one or twice per season. However, they only come in 3-5 squads per siege. I keep hearing stories about the epic 123102938 squad sieges with mounted goblins, leaders (I've killed / caged them all except the ruler), trolls and giant fat oodles of blood, but I've yet to experience it for myself.

I want to epic lose. I want to have fun. What am I doing wrong?

For reference, my fortress is 10+ years old, 115-125 population capped, 10 million wealth created, 3 million exported.

I'd guess it has something to do with your removing babysnatching. IIRC, babysnatching code ties in directly with siege code. It might be affecting the siege numbers, somehow. With a fortress worth 10 million dwarfbucks, you should definitely be getting larger sieges than that.

In a game I played, I didn't mod anything about the game.

Sieges came and went, but even the 7th actual siege or so hardly had more than 4 squads of normal goblins, no special beasts.
My fortress had lots of wealth and lots of dwarves.

Is the amount of squads related to the amount of goblins in the world?
And what about beasts like trolls or beakdogs? I've never seen those appear either.

A single squad of goblin crossbowmen still hurts as hell though...
