Really? This seems kinda lame. All 4 floor tiles are engraved pink tourmaline, but really? It's just got a bed, cabinet, coffer, and door, all made in I think the first year after embark (maybe second, but not later than that).

Yeah, the material value for engraved gemstone walls and floors is much too high. After all, when you see a pink tourmaline wall in game, it's not really supposed to represent a meter cube of solid gemstone. It's some generic rock with a few gems sprinkled inside it, which you probably wouldn't even be able to see until you pulverized the rock. A 2x2 room with engraved solid gemstone walls, that really would be a royal bedroom.

It wasn't even the walls though, just the floor. The walls are shale.

Yeah, but the value is calculated as if it really is made of solid gemstone. And pink tourmaline has value 15.

To be (almost) fair, if you had a, let's say, tiled floor, and every three feet one of the insets was made of a gemstone, it'd be pretty awesome.  [1 cut tourmaline/mined tile ~= 1 tourmaline floor decor/floor tile]
