*looks at the DF fanatic eyeing his sheep*  "Go away, none of your kind in here!"

but seriously, anyone have any definate knowledge on animal reproduction?  Couldnt find any in the wiki, course I am stupid so that doesnt mean its not in the wiki.  I am wanting to start a cattle baron fortress and am trying to figure out my bull / cow ratio.  Can one big brahma do the ....uhh...(ahem) job?  or do i really need lotsa bulls ( im fulla bulls-) for those hard to please cows?

Think of it like the Radio.

There is one emitter. It travels through most things like walls to reach the reciever, a radio.

Except the radios produce another radio or another transmitter from the transmission. Then the radios follow you around and make the world slower. Then they start clogging hallways, streets and highways. Then when the Chinese invade, the military get stuck because of all the radios and transmitters following everybody around. Then you hack them all apart for their parts.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

As noted, animals reproduce by spores. One male anywhere on the map can impregnate all of the females. Now, I don't think anyone's figured anything out with regards to frequency, so it's possible that having more males around makes pregnancy more common. But you don't need 'em.

It doesn't even have to be an emitter you own.  I had two mares foal a year after the first caravan hit, and I still didn't have a stallion around.
