Smoking burial site
« on: June 19, 2013, 05:38:53 pm »

Has anyone seen this before?  I had a grave start emitting smoke for no apparent reason.  The smoke covered about a 10 square radius before receding back into the grave.

Nothing else supernatural to report.   :-[

There's nothing in vanilla DF that would cause this that has anything to do with a dead dwarf and being put in a coffin at least.

Are you playing with mods of any kind?  Or have any unusual creatures been around (dragons, flaming megabeasts, etc.)?

Might be an artifact that caught fire in there somewhere. Had this happen once in my kitchen area when I dumped a bunch of items there. Just walled around it.

!!Wooden Artifact Coffin!! Perhaps?

Built coffins in the burial chamber are capable of catching fire under the right conditions, the same as beds, tables, and ropes, if they happen to be made from a combustable material.

I really don't know?

I don't usually make wooden caskets, or allow wood artifacts if I can help it.

It's possible that it was a wooden coffin. I can't check now since a group of goblins heard about all the fun we just had with a mountain titan (that's what caused the coffin in question to be filled in the first place) and decided to bring even more fun.

I think I have more-or-less vanilla DF. I use the Phoebus pre-install.

It can also happen if you were playing with the Temperature turned off, a dwarf died & was buried while on fire, and then you turned Temperature back on again.
