This game is immensely complex and so very fun. It is a realistic hex-based wargame, and like the title of this thread says, free. Over 80 nations are represented, and there are campaigns, scenarios, PBEM play and other such fun things. I've been having a lot of fun with it, it is a great game. The tank simulation is immensely detailed and there are all sorts of cool toys to play with, and almost all weapons are represented from 1946-2020. Stealth Bombers, Paratroopers, recoiless rifles, and great roleplay potential. Also thinking whether people want to do some PBEM play. It would be pretty cool seeing Bay12 going head to head.

To me SP:MBT is my favorite wargame just above SP:WW2, the sheer amount of content, the enormous replayability with the bazillions of scenarios, campaigns, random scenarios, random campaigns, skirmishes etc... is amazing.

The continued support since all those years by the Camo Workshop devs is really admirable, each update adds a ton of content.

If you can't figure out how it works, one of the scenario is a tutorial that is played with the manual at the section "Playing WinSPMBT Tutorial", very detailled with screenshots and explains a lot of the mechanics.

The html manual is very well done, be sure to browse it.
Make sure to read about the Range , it can make a -huge- difference when it comes to detection.
And if you're trying to sneak units, make sure to not move them much each turns, as moving them full speed (i mean on their max distance) make them much easier to spot.
