I finished the game once. I have no interest in playing through again. It's too monotonous - I hate the combat. Tried going back through the purified zones, but gave up because it's so boring. The story parts are pretty neat; I'd very much enjoy a version of this game without the combat.

This is a great game and more people should be playing it. I'd definitely agree with the combat verdict though.

Eh, I only had to pay attention to combat in Purified Zone 3 and The Room. You can autopilot through pretty much everything for the story.

Also this game is annoyingly hard to talk about. I keep trying to tell people I beat OFF, but they just laugh at me.

Oddly it wasn't the combat that I found really tedious (that was somewhat fun) but the puzzles. Maybe they changed later on but for all of zone one they felt like the same tedious thing over and over. Haven't gotten back into this to beat the rest of the zones.

The puzzles drop off pretty quick honestly, past the first zone I think they stop being that big a deal. But yeah the puzzles are kinda samey.

I'd type up some theories on the story but I'm feeling lazy. Maybe later.

Has someone made a recording of OFF where they skip through the combat and fast-forward through the puzzles? Because that's probably the best way to go about experiencing the game. Not much need to play it yourself if the exploration is linear.

There is a screenshot LP of OFF on the something awful forums right now, but it's behind a paywall. It'll go away eventually. It goes over the puzzles but it's mostly "okay this is how you solve it bye" and combat is only shown off if there's a new guy.

But the music goes well with the exploration.

Yeah, they post audio links when the audio changes. So like, whenever they post the first screenshot of a new area (or an old area they're going back to) there's a tindeck link for listening to it.
