Champion questions

I am at the point i am looking at appointing a champion. One of my best teachers is also the leader of his squad. If I appoint him as champion should i remove him from the military and/or squad leadership?

It really doesen't matter if he is militia captain or not. Just make your best teacher champion. He'll teach everyone.

next question then will he continue to train himself further improving his skills? The wiki does not say but is it better to have a higher level in a skill that they are teaching? He is not legendary in all skills is why i am asking
