Offer contract:
-Design and product a spacecraft able to bring minerals from the asteroid belt to Earth. I'd like a couple of them to begin with, may buy more later.
-Ship must be relatively fast, secure, and robust (no high-tech sh*t that break too easily).
-Cargo capacity: at least 35% of the cargo's empty weight.
-Propulsion: something efficient. If you can design something that can run on what I'm extracting, I'd be happy. [HRP: using asteroid as refuel stations is envisioned by NASA]

-REWARD: k$25.000 [I assume budget is in k$.], reduced price on raw materials I'm selling.

I stress it: above is not what I'm doing. It's something I'll pay other companies to do.

Own research:
-Space-based refinery.

PS: You may want to research Nuclear Fusion before Cold Fusion...

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

Research cold fusion generators ( Light, efficient, powerful ) and begin work on both Large liquid engines ( To provide high speed to large/heavy ships ) and Ion engines.
Also begin research on creating an armor lighten then steel but just as strong.

Design a huge scale ship with a Thermo nuclear generator, a double bank of liquid engines, manned instilation, reinforced steel hull and with all spare space devoted to cargo transport but with seats that fold into the floor and walls so it can be used for personnel transport as well.

Research a new engine. It is on the level of ion engines, but larger and more powerful. It is designed to move objects quickly over long distances through space.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

(( Uhm Remuthra I may be wrong but to design something on Ion engines I'm pretty sure you first need, well, Ion engines? ))

((Ion engines are a thing already. Or if I'm mistaken about that, I'm creating ion engines.))

((Ion engines are a thing, I suppose, but are rather heavy, low thrust and use lots of power. Basically things not in the list but in the timeframe are things I either forgot about or somewhat experimental. (Spacebased thermonuclear being an example of the latter.)

Besides, I can redirect your research to whatever prerequisite or similar technology you need.))

Research lower power Ion Engines for long spaceflights. Research more efficient solar panels for the purpose of powering engines. Finally, Research the viability of solar sails for long distance flights.

Contact the scientists, express interest in their venture, and ask the details of what they want.

Design a large, unmanned, ship designed to take off from the moon (lower gravity) and transport materials from the asteroid belt to earth orbit. With three large liquid engines, reinforced armor, and large cargo bays. Focus on speed.
