liquid pressure up z-levels
« on: May 01, 2013, 11:26:03 am »

Hello, to put it quick and dirty:

Can I use a pump at a low z-level to pump magma/water up several z-levels higher? Or do I have to put a pump on every level? The wiki entry on pressure is not conclusive on this one. (only states you can pump it up to the same level as the pump)

(The plan is to pump it up, then close up behind the liquid with a floodgate (in this case, magmaproof)) To get some magma workshops working up on surface level.

I wonder if the game has become odd.

There's another way, if I remember right. A magma piston, I think it's called? Something along the lines of.. you drop a 'cork' like thing into the magma, and the displacement rockets it up many zlevels or something... don't quote me on this of course, because this is all from my shoddy memory and I've never done it.

Though, producing a magma guyser seems like something that would be possible in dwarf fortress.
