Bronzebanners III: After the Wicked Midnight
Alright, so my other thread (
The Beginning, Again) and the two adventure mode challenges found here (
Adventurer Needed parts 1 and 2) and here (
Adventurer Needed part 3)
The dwarves are a stubborn race and, upon hearing that the monsters who destroyed the previous settlement had been eliminated, the Mountainhomes were quick to dispatch a new group of settlers. Given the inherent danger of this site, they elected to only send 7 dwarves, and for this dangerous assignment they again chose six convicts and a disgraced beaurecrat.
They have been banded together into a group called Sobirnicat, 'The Released Chains' and sent out for the glory of The Curled Rock.
Udil Urrithkeskal ('Scarshoots')
Udil Urrithkeskal ('Scarshoots') was an apprentice accountant, working for a dwarven noble in the Mountainhomes. All his life, he had been haunted by nightmares about giant slugs and so, to try to conquer his fear, he becan eating every slug he saw. Unfortunately, one of the slugs he ate was his employer's favorite pet. He was sentenced to fifty years imprisonment. After twenty-five years, he opted for resettlement rather than serve the second half of his sentence.
Stinthad Rabedtun ('Freckledoor')
Stinthad Rabedtun ('Freckledoor') was a miner for fifteen years before when she was sent to prison. She was digging a new air shaft for one of the mines when she happened across a group of blue diamonds. She was working alone, and quickly decided to keep them instead of turning them over to the foreman. Unfortunately, her supervisor was coming up the tunnel to speak to her and he saw her attempted theft. She was sentenced to one hundred years imprisonment for grand larceny, but she opted for immediate resettlement instead.
Nish Adcerol ('Sunlens')
Nish Adcerol ('Sunlens') was a mushroom farmer who took her goods to market every week for sixty years before anything unusual happened to her. She was travelling to the market along her usual route when she was stopped by a group of Imperial Guards, who told her that the would have to take a detour because of a miner roof collapse. She refused to take a detour because by the time she got to the market by that route her crop would have dried out and become worthless, and their disagreement came to blows. She was convicted of seven assault charges, one for each Guard, and sentenced to twenty years imprisonment per charge. She opted for resettlement after a few years.
Meng Eshtanengig ('Smithflax')
Meng Eshtanengig ('Smithflax') was a shopkeeper who sold trinkets and small stone crafts. He was honest in his business dealings, and he lost money constantly because of it. Eventually his debt to one of the nobles he worked with was so great that they sued him, and he was sentenced to eighty years hard labor, working for his accuser. After thirty years, he opted for resettlement.
Likot Unibdakas ('Ragcolor')
Likot Unibdakas ('Ragcolor') was a miner for thirty years before an unfortunate accident in his work area caused a collapse which severely injured two of his fellow dwarves. The cave-in terrified him and he fled the scene in a panic and the other two miners died of their woulnds. Later, it was discovered that if he had given the vistims first aid, they would have survived, and so he was convicted of two counts of murder and ordered to serve one hundred and fifty years in prison. He opted for resettlement.
Id Letmosamem ('Cobaltcurls')
Id Letmosamem ('Cobaltcurls') was a nurse in one of the primary hospitals in the capitol for twenty years when she was caught stealing mead from the emergency supplies. Her charge was increased to Grand Theft of Alcohol when they did an inventory and found she had been stealing for her entire career. Her belligerence during her trial enraged the judge, who sentenced her to life in prisonment. She opted for resettlement.
Avuz Vabokcatten ('Orbchannels')
Avuz Vabokcatten ('Orbchannels') was a noble's secretary for eleven years after he graduated from Secretarial and Accounting School in the Mountainhomes. He was issuesd seventy-five written warning for attending parties while he was supposed to be performing his duties before his supervisor transferred him to the position of Outpist Overseer when the resettlement project for Bronzebanners came up.
I'll keep the narration from their point of view, and if any of them die I'll replace them with one new dwarf. I don't want to try and get to know every single dwarf, given their... lack of longevity. But seven I can handle.
I'll put updates here when I add to the story but it can also be found on my blog
Elleshaped.
Cheers!
