I'm in an instrumental "post-rock" band called Bearatroopers. We've been playing live over the past couple months and have a demo out as well as some live recordings on YouTube.

Interestingly, you can find us with a Google search (pretty neat to me :D)

Demo: http://m.soundcloud.com/groups/bearatroopers

Live sessions: http://m.youtube.com/#/playlist?list=PL-X18h3hsBIJPeiL-QiCHeXThsxG7yPK0&desktop_uri=%2Fplaylist%3Flist%3DPL-X18h3hsBIJPeiL-QiCHeXThsxG7yPK0

Any comments and feedback would be super awesome. I'm at work now but I'll take a listen to some stuff here and give some feedback myself when I get the chance.

Some of the highs are missing, most notably from the cymbals, but also some guitar highs. I can't really hear anything from like 10k up, and that makes it sounds pretty dead. I can't tell if the snares are simply rolling in some places or if they're just rattling from the bass/other sources.

Other than those two complaints, it sounds like I'm listening to a post rock band. Like, a legit post-rock band. Red Sparrows or something.

What pedals/amp setup does the guitarist of this band use if I might ask?

Thanks! All these recordings are unfortunately live. The demo was done in studio and that's surprising to hear the highs are cut off. That's useful information though, so thank you.

There are two guitarists in the band. I use a multieffects boss pedal with an additional delay
pedal on a bigass Fender tube amp (ranger I think). The other guitarist has a weird programmable multi effects pedal I've never heard of with an Iron Horse distortion pedal by Walrus Audio. I think he's on a Peavey amp but I could be mistaken.

Oh, I only listened to the live ones. I'll go back and listen to the others.

Thanks for the info!

EDIT: Yeah, there are definitely no such problems on the studio version.

Judging by the soundcloud, it's pretty awesome. Very laidback and easy to listen to, but still musically varied and interesting. I could listen to this stuff all day.

From what I've heard of post-rock before now, it sounds like a legitimate band like Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai or Red Sparrows, those guys.

I sound like I know what I'm talking about. >.>

Does it count if you made something that made music?  ;)

I wrote this song for guitar. I warn you that it's the first song I've ever written. Don't worry, it only lasts 3 minutes.
Give me feedback please. :)

I have been learning music theory in school for nearly a year now, and all I have to show for it is this 12-second piece of crap.

https://soundcloud.com/m-hastae/nyx-castle

Yeah, it's bad. I know. But cut me some slack, it's the first song I have ever made and a just a 8 months ago I literally knew no music theory at all. As for the song itself, it's a short little thing in A Minor that has way too many arpeggios because I'm addicted to arpeggios for some reason.

I can't believe, but I actually finished this piece of crap. It's now 1:12 and still not that good. Honestly, there's so many parts that could be better but it is my first song. I like the end though.

I used an NES Soundfont for this to give an old-school feel and then I added a pad in the background for some depth. Getting that pad to not overpower the music took quite some tinkering...

In the mood for soothing dark ambient? Maybe harsh noise? Maybe some post-industrial?
