Steam no longer causes damage?
« on: March 08, 2007, 03:38:00 pm »

I read about steam defense in the Wiki, and it seemed like a pretty spiffy way to protect the fortress: kill those pesky invaders without destroying all of the stuff they own.  The last paragraph in the article states that with the changes to temperature in the most recent version, steam is no longer as dangerous.  However, as far as I can tell, steam is now totally harmless.  My temperature is on, and I had a cow stand in the steam for an extended period and take no damage whatsoever.  Anyone else have similar experiences?

I managed to kill an adventurer with steam by lighting a fire next to the river. It slowly boiled my skin and my eyes poped out. Ouch

Maybe it's related to environment temperature.  I tested my steam defense in the winter... perhaps it was so cold outside that all my steam did was provide a nice, heated path into my fortress.  I'll try it again in summertime.

LOL

Let the goblins attack in style by turning the heat on for them!
