Tame Forgotten Beast

I've never seen a pet FB. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows anything about this sort of thing. It seems that the worldgen dwarf civ has caught and tamed a FB and a migrant brought it to the fort. Fancy.

I suspect modding has taken place, either to add a custom tameable creature named "forgotten beast" or incorrectly having duplicated creature raws (though that usually results in embarking as forgotten beasts rather than bringing them as pets).

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Modding has taken place, for sure, since this happened in my mod. But I did not add a forgotten beast pet, and neither do I have duplicate raws... I asked the person who reported it for a save, to have a look myself.

I personally do like this, FBs as pets ;)

Maybe it's one of random creatures generated by script?

If they somehow stumbled upon traping it, using any of the methods players have found to trap forgotten beasts in cage traps, perhaps they could have tamed it like the AI tames exotic beasts.

No. Read the post. Migrants brought it. Another one was sold by the caravan in a cage. Its the worldgen civ that brings forgotten beasts, not the player himself.

No forgotten beasts have [PET] or even [PET_EXOTIC], so the only way one could end up as a "pet" race for a civilization would be either memory hacking (updating the civ's pet list in memory during worldgen - changing the raws inside world.dat wouldn't work because worldgen would already be done at that point) or some sort of memory corruption (again, possibly a result of having duplicated creature raws).

I also think its duplicate raws, but I have no save... the author did not send me anything.

Heya guys,

I wanted to give you my savegame (called RegionFBnew), it were Elves who brought three(!) tame FBs but I guess it's close enough :)
Also, this is my thread about it with more info.

Basically, it seems the culprit was that I left the backup copy of my modded "creatures_subterranean.txt" in the raws folder. Interestingly, the Errorlog did not mention Forgotten beasts besides "DOUBLE TAGGED ITEM: Store Item in Stockpile, (forgotten beast cage (candlenut))" and a path fail.
I removed the backups now and plan to play that particular savegame some more time, I will tell if I get more tame FBs.
The savegame here is my most recent one, the one in the thread I linked was at a time directly after the Elves brought the first tame FB.

Maybe it helps you perform some more science on this matter :)

P.S: Do not start the game with active Invaders ! There are no defences or military, so this would lead to extreme !!Fun!! ^^ Population Cap was 70.

The Duplicate thingy seems fixed now. I have removed the file in question. I'm still eager to know if GCS can breed now ^^ Also, if the Elven caravan turns up with a tame FB again ...
