Butcher
« on: March 17, 2013, 02:22:11 am »

Ok first off i have two horse corpses and there are two dead gazelles outside my fortress walls. Ive set refuse orders to allow my dwarves to gather refuse outside the fortress. I have a refuse stockpile and a corpse pile. Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

Couple of checks:
Is the Butcher's workshop is linked to any stockpiles?
Are corpses are not forbidden?
Are dwarves trying to bring the corpses to the stockpiles?
Is the butcher's workshop close to the refuse stockpile?
Are dwarves trying to fill up your refuse stockpile with other things?

you shouldn't need to link them to get the job done, it is just that butchers need to either have a hunter drop off a body(part), use the slaughter animal job, or take a corpse from a refuse stockpile.

Linking a stockpile to a workshop makes that workshop give and take only from linked stockpiles, if you want to play around with this (q)uery a stockpile and (g)ive to or (t)ake from another stockpile or workshop

and to continue on the link-thing, if the butcher had been linked to a stockpile, it would have stopped functioning untill a body part got to that stockpile. It wouldn't accept anything from other places anymore
