Cave in
« on: March 16, 2013, 07:20:28 am »

Ok so im pretty new to DF, but i understand enough to get by. A cave in happens when a stone is disconected from everything and then proceeds to fall. Now i recently embarked to a mountain and i like the area. Now i i go to the top of the mountain a desginate it to be mined there is nothing but air above this level. Once my dwarf mines the last rock it causes a cave in and kills him. What i want to know is why and how?  Theres nothing above to fall down the level below hasn't been mined yet. I would really appriciate any help.

They are mining under the surface, leaving a layer of soil above them.  When the last square is mined...WHAM!
Channel from above instead.

She was on her way to the booze stockpile for a drink and got interrupted by the wyvern. It is not wise to stand between a grumpy senior and her booze.
