Does Toady update on Twitter? Because one of my main uses of Google Reader is to get all the Dwarf Fortress updates automatically.

Yeah, I know. But I get other stuff through Google Reader as well, with the advantage that a lot of it updates infrequently, so it saves a good bit of time instead of checking a bunch of websites to see if something new has been posted.

My point being that Twitter is useless if the people you're checking up on from RSS don't use it.

Short form is it's a program or whatever that tells you when websites update. More or less.

With an RSS reader, you just have a single place you go to that shows updates from all the sites you're interested in. With an online RSS reader like google reader, you have the advantage of all devices you check them on syncing which ones you've read, etc.
