Administration Utilities?
« on: March 12, 2013, 03:01:29 am »

I was just curious if there are any tools out there that would automatically assign specific rooms I designate to whomever is in a certain position (for positions that can change on their own, such as Mayor).

I would like to have a big fancy Mayor's office, and have the dwarf in that position assigned to that room automatically, whenever there is an election is at all possible.

I don't believe anything of that nature exists in the game as of the current patch/version [vanilla]. Though, it's pretty easy to just re-assign the room to each and every mayor present.

To do it properly, you also need to un-assign your mayor from their old dwellings, or they'll occasionally sleep there. Mayors (and of course nobles who retain their old hole in the ground after joining the nobility) can get super angry over shitty rooms they own in addition to their lavish palace.

Of course he gets a shinny new room; clean, masterfully engraved and full of gold statues! But, lo and behold, may Armok cut his beard off if he ain't gonna sleep in the freaking dormitories if he can. And complain about it.

At one point my Count/Mayor had 3 bedrooms. One from before becoming mayor, one from after becoming mayor but before becoming a full noble, and his noble room. Guess which one he slept in most of the time before I figured out what was going on. Yep, the first assigned to him.

the rooms menu [R] is pretty good for finding stuff like that if you don't have too many dwarves.

Don't forget to manually change the room/office assignments if your mayor changes. ;)

Easy... But extremely tedious when your dwarves are batshit insane and suffer from ADHD. As soon as my current for had a mayor position, they started electing a new mayor every 10 real world minutes or so.

When they get bored, they murder cats. Not for food; they will straight up work all day, eat 3 lavish meals a day, come home and just... Slaughter kittens for no good reason.
