I hired a snailer to cross the marsh. Morning of the second day found the snailing trail destroyed, despite our efforts the snail turned back.  The driver refunded my fare and I continued on foot.




Figured I'd formalize this one in the timeline, I should have at least one more, and i'm hoping to do 2 more before my week is up.

The marsh grew darker as I continued.  Dark blue phantoms glided across the water through the thick fog around me.  It was only a matter of time before I was discovered.

Loving the progress so far. I like the mix in the blue dude on the right there. High tech (magic?) and wierd mount choices :D

I'll be updating the first post soonish, hopefully someone fills in the last spot (Robocorn?)

Thanks, it was a fun one to paint.

It has been interesting trying to incorporate the technology elements that were touched on in rhesusmacabre's painting, and the earlier post regarding late 60s tech level.  I've been trying to bring in these elements, while keeping the world fantastical, (giant snails with rumble seats and snapping turtle marsh segways).  I really like the notion that apparently magical things, like gliding over the water, have mundane explanations that just aren't apparent, and it isn't always technology that seems like magic

I was taken to a weathered and crumbling outpost atop an unnatural rise in the swamp. That night I was kept awake by a booming deep underground me.  The sound grew to a cacophony, before the floor of my cell crumbled away, taking the wall with it into the glowing depths.




This one was a little rushed, (the good ones i spend two days on, this one i did in one night) but I needed to wrap things up today, as i'll be swamped the next few days.  I tried to give the next artist a few options, venture into the mysterious depths foreshadowed by the disappearance of the river, or escape through the crumbling walls.

I hope people don't mind that I started to bring in a more direct adventurous narrative.  I'm not great with landscapes, so the sublime backdrops were kinda a no-go.  This is also my first try at a non-obscured body and face.  I haven't done much drawing since a child prior to getting this tablet, and have always struggled with faces and hands. (and people in general)


**Edit Bonus Content:

This is a very preliminary sketch for a 4th painting that I had to skip showing the outpost where the traveler was taken, I wasn't that happy with how it was shaping up anyhow, but i guess its better to share than just delete it.  You'll at least get the idea I was toying with.  They would be derelicts that someone found in the swamp and used in their construction.

Just to say that I hadn't forgotten about this (in fact I think about it daily and where it could go) and will be jump starting in sometimes in the next two weeks, continuing from the last image and doing a new round of spot calling and all that stuff.

(Also should probably get around to updating the second post :C)

I feel like if he isn't supposed to know whether the dsicovery is good or bad then grey overtones would make more sense than red

At first glance i liked the red version, but after looking at them a few times I like the grey version better, the red seems to wash out some of the detail.  That said, I really like this one. I'm a big fan of the tech-fantasy fusion without being particularly steampunk

"I was woken after what felt like days of sleep, the room was simple yet spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable, possibly the best sleep I've had in months ever sincce I've left home. And to top it all off, next to me was what appeared to be a dragon in it's humanoid form, smoking a pipe, as if it was waiting for me to wake up all this time, I wonder why is he doing all of this."

So, here we are, our benefactor, a dragon, a gentleman at that!

I planned out this whole conversation or something but it's all over the place and I'm to tired to tie it all back together so just some boring exposition. Dragons came to this world from somewhere else, many of them can't remember where from, their numbers have been dwindling over the years and only a handful remain. They are pretty powerful and have a deeply rooted desire for power and wealth, depending on their personality they go about this stuff in different ways. The one that took our protagonist in is a kinder one, atleast on the surface. Owning a large estate with quite a few people working for him he runs several buisness venues (not all would be considered moral, or legal for that matter). The idea is that it's some sort of servitude, he takes these people in, provides for them and they work for him. Pretty much all of them adore him and have him as some sort of father figure, a role he's more than glad to fill.

Anyways, our hero will depart tommorrow, where we'll hopefully see the estate in all it's splendor and some more background on its denizens. Then the normal schedule restarts with spots being open for claiming.
