Have you not tried drinking more slowly already?

It doesn't matter how little I drink in that situation.

His advice is pointless to me but he did answer my question... and was the only person to actually come up with a valid answer.

It had to do with stretching caused either by dehydration and/or my muscles being asleep.

I wish I had the ability to wait until I got the answer I wanted and then be totally satisfied by it.

It is because no one said anything that made sense with what I knew about it. Hense why I kept trying to re-explain it.

It is the only one CLOSE, within the ball park.

Since a "Cancerous growth" would explain why it hurt at exactly one spot but not with how it made a path of destruction.

yeah occasionally it does do it for me even if there is only a tiny bit of water too, maybe being really dehydrated causes it to trap an air bubble under it?  No idea but I do know what you are talking about and it's happened to me since I was like 5 so it's not something life threatening.  Annoying maybe but safe.

Gulping anything too fast can, in my experience, cause pockets of air to be created in between the liquid. These can hurt a reasonable amount and go on to cause wind / chest pains.

Solution : slow down ya dingus!

:P

I do find it a bit odd that you say this pain can "cause you to pass out", however. Perhaps there's something else going on...?

When it caused me to pass out, I was chugging something... and since it is basically like a blockage in my esophogus, it means that EVERY CHUG came together and become a super dense ball in my throat forcing itself down painfully.

Convenient an answer as that may be, you cannot really cause yourself enough pain to pass out from pain by quickly chugging liquid down your throat, unless that is, there is already something wrong with your esophagus; borderline pathological pain intolerance and panic disorder being the major exceptions. As it stands, gastroesophageal reflux disease and achalasia are both very plausible possibilities and you'd do well to go through a gastroenterologist if the pain persists, regardless of how quickly you drink.

Any muscle that can contract can cramp.  That might be what's happening here.  Dehydration can cause cramping, so can low potassium and low calcium, among other things.  I'd drink more water, take a hard look at the nutrition content of my diet, and ask a medical professional about esophageal spasm.

The most likely cause is Dysphasia with dehydration.

The most likely cause is Dysphasia with dehydration.

Two things:
  • Dysphasia is difficulty communicating verbally.  Difficulty swallowing is called dysphagia.
  • Dysphagia is the symptom, not the likely cause.
