Question - underground civilization birth announcement spam
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:47:33 am »

I have an underground ([layer_linked]) civ that gives spammy birth announcement messages. For example:
(Name), Chaja Spearman, has given birth to a girl.
(Name), Chaja Swordsman, has given birth to twins.
etc

This happens even before the cavern they are in is discovered. Has anyone had this issue before or have ideas for what might be causing the spam?

Another issue is that the adults are HOSTILE (mostly) but the infants/children are all FRIENDLY. But I assume this is a code issue and not something fixable with tokens. I'd be happy just to get rid of the birth spam.

Any help appreciated. :)

Going into init/announcements.txt and changing [BIRTH_ANIMAL:A_D:D_D] to [BIRTH_ANIMAL:A_D] might work. That would also stop all of your pets from announcing any births as well though.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
