Sticking to easier classes and forgoing the "Oh I must kill thy everything, world!" approach should get you if not a win then at least getting to the prides every time. Also adventure mode gives you 7 lives in addition to the resurrection items you can find, so a silly death is by far not the end of the world.

On the other hands while my deaths in Crawl always feel like my own fault deaths in Tome 4 for me are mostly "wuh?" So it's a bit harder to learn from your deaths, especially considering the combat log is not very informing.

If you want to play roguelikes but feel you're bad, this is a pretty good start. You'll have to shake a few habbits when you move to harder stuff, but nothing major.

I find that T4 is the most accessible non-commercial roguelike. Its a little denser then maybe desired if you want to throw someone completely new into it but it actually has a tutorial so its offset. I have been doing my own little LP on my youtube channel and my deaths so far have been mostly obvious to me and mainly fall under the category of "Yes I know this could kill me but its shiny". Though after the first 2 games I have mostly been able to get out of the starter dungeon and I plan to blame the first 2 on having not played T4 for a bit.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Spoiler: Maze lore (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Sandworm Lair lore (click to show/hide)

Edit: This is probably the last update. I have RL issues to deal with and I don't have enough time to devote to this LP. :(

Agreed, that's too bad.  I really enjoyed this LP.
