Ask him about the rot, learn more about. Then we can decide if his beliefs are true and pick right decisions. We don't have to flee or fight right now.

"Hmm, I guess I should begin where it all started. Long ago, there was no war, no real trouble, no real evil in the world. Sure, there were evil beings, but they stayed secluded within their towers and dens. Then one single man became filled with greed. Nobody knows why greed struck one who had everything. You have heard of the tale of king Loras, no? I shall refresh you. He was reigning over a prosperous kingdom. He had his beautiful queen, his sons and daughters living pleasantly, his citizens content with his rule. Suddenly though, something changed with him. He began searching for more land, he began forming an army, his peasants supported this, taking on his mindset and many becoming soldiers, soon  he began to defeat kingdom after kingdom. Conquering all races and forcing them to fight under his banner. That is why most magical races of the world today still hate humankind. The Orcs, the goblins, the kobolds, even the once docile elves and friendly dwarves are incredibly weary of the human race. That is why our contact with them is so limited. Eventually, a lone man who had lost everything stood up to Loras. History never knew his name, and little is known about what happened on that fateful day, because once the nameless man approached Loras, our knowledge goes blank." He finally breaks his gazing at the forest and turns to you.
"What does this has to do with now you may ask? Some say Loras has returned, the father of war, the beginning of the rot, so to speak. The 'rot' that started small but spread quickly to the rest of the world. The philosophy of the Ardent guild is that the only true way to remove the problems of the world is to remove their source, and often that involves violence."
