corpse or refuse stockpile?
« on: January 30, 2013, 12:43:35 pm »

I've planned out a little corpse stockpile next to my butcher shop, the goal being to prevent my butcher from wandering outside to grab corpses from the refuse pile.  So I was all set to designate a stockpile for him when i realized that there are two categories -- "corpse" and "refuse" that both take corpses.  Which one is best to use?  My goal here is to collect only butcherable corpses (i.e. no goblins, nothing rotten).

Corpse stockpiles are for dead dwarfs, refuse is for everything else that died or rotted.

I wonder if the game has become odd.

So is there any way to set up a corpse stockpile inside the fortress that will only take fresh kills and butcherable stuff?

And then?
Is there a setting for "fresh" or something that I missed?

For a stockpile that will only take fresh kills and other butcherable stuff what you want to do is make a refuse stockpile and then edit it. Turn off everything but corpses, fresh hides, and other butcherable objects.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Don't kobold corpses fall under "corpses"?  Also, what other butcherable objects are there besides corpses?

Yes, but what you can do is go into the corpses and specifically turn off the main types of corpses that are liable to end up in there (i.e. goblins, kobolds, elves, humans, and trolls).
