Between two worlds...
« on: January 28, 2013, 06:51:39 pm »

Is it possible to move a character from one world to another?  I just had this zany idea for getting to this special place, like a temple or something, and having my adventurer "walk through a mirror" or maybe "jump in the sacred pool" and then having the game save the character data, which would then be imported to a new world that is uploaded with the starting area being an identical "mirror" or "sacred pool" but in an entirely different world.

While this would be hella cool, I have no idea how feasable this is.  Any ideas?

Nope, there'll be a few accompanying realm in future but not the completely new world. That'd cause much weirdness in the history  since adventurer would have kills and relations unknown in the history log of the second world.

You could just dfhack your attributes and skills on a new adventurer and pretend that he arrived in the second world terminator-style: naked and badass.
One guy used the hack to teach his adventurer reading in the Museum succession game, but I don't know commands that could be used for this.

"Well, Lucy Pevensie, from the shining city of War Drobe in the wondrous land of Spare Oom, how would it be if you came and had tea with me?"

;)

Yes, play-acting is probably the solution for now (with or without the artificial buffing).  But, you know how it is... The Hero finds him or herself out of place, possibly out of time.  Maybe he/she now finds a lack of previous proficiency (or, of course, whereas they were previously quite ordinary they're now the one-eyed king in the kingdom of the blind...).

If there truly is (or ever will be) a magic portal, I'm sure not just your Adventurer will travel through it, of course.  Whether someone sneaks through after them, or the hero is following a foe with a Dasterdly PlanTM.  Or it's just a generally leaky-sieve thing, like with Primaeval, and you just happen to luckily (or unluckily) stumble through it.   But that's currently no more than backstory, really.
