Now we all know that if dwarves get sad enough they can go into a rage.

And rage is an interesting state for a dwarf to be in, they seem to just own no matter who they are.

I did a test and with a fortress of about 150 dwarves. I got a dwarf farmer with no skills in combat and made him a miner (to pick of a pickaxe) and then made him stand their while a suspended platform is dropped onto 149 dwarves for him to watch. maybe 15 tiles away.

After about 1 minute this farmer went into a rage and killed every living animal left on the map he could catch.

Goats, Cows, Birds(that come down to be hit) and Horses All dead.

From reading the combat reports the Farmer got to attack Every Turn doing devastating damage, the animals never got a hit in.

So is there any way we can induce a rage targeted at one dwarf to kill all our enemies?

I want to affect one dwarfs feelings and still have a running fortress, so maybe he can get like 20 pet cats that go into a grinder in front of his eyes before he is released into combat.

A dwarf with actual combat skills would be a sight to behold in a rage.

~~

TL:DR How can we induce a rage in a single military dwarf to go to war without disturbing or up seating a working fortress?

Not quite sure if you are talking about dwarves going berserk or dwarves "becoming enraged at all enemies", which are two completely different things. Berserk dwarves will try to kill everything they encounter, and get no special bonuses. Enraged dwarves, on the other hand, do get bonus to the damage caused by any hits they connect with, though I don't believe that it gives them any accuracy bonus. The state is also comparable to that of a "martial trance", where dwarves will improves to all of their combat rolls except for the ones that determine how much damage they do. As for controlling enraged and martial trances, you can't really. The chance of a dwarf becoming enraged is based on their personality (with a small increase chance if they face a large number of enemies or someone has died nearby), and martial trances require being attacked by more then one enemy IIRC, but other then that it is just fairly random as to whether or not a dwarf will go into one.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
