Map Confusion
« on: January 20, 2013, 10:30:51 pm »

Ok so I'm trying to find this Dwarven Vampire and before you say ask the locals I know. The problem is I can't find the locals because I cannot find the town/fortress since it is some sort of mountain Dwarven city/cave thing. On the map is says I'm right on top of it but I cannot find any entrances or stairs to it. Any suggestions on what to do and if you do know what to do an reply, thanks.

Dwarven/elven/goblin settlements don't exist yet. They will be added for the next release though.

Dont forget jumping, climbing etc. Adventure mode and dwarf forts have new challenges.

That wall you have around your fort. Theyll climb over that.

Imagine when he adds digging for siegers, digging zombies... Oh god.

suddenly the material of the walls will actually matter! maybe some walls will be denser and harder to digg through. I dream of steel walls... but the zombies might still digg UNDER it :O

Embark on a cold map. Fill the level below your walls with water. Every breach is instantly sealed by insta-killing water.

I'd expect digging to be a very limited ability - remember, naked dwarfs won't dig, either, you have to give them picks. Enemy digging could reasonably be restricted to burrowing animals (who with a few exceptions would only dig in soil) and maybe engineering troops. Almost certainly not zombies.

And maybe, just maybe we'll be allowed to dig in adventure mode.
e.g. let a dwarf hollow out their own shelter for the night, or go prospecting for a fortress; or dig their way out of the caves, or into hell...

Edit: do you really get the "TSK" notification when standing on the site the dwarf fort would be (if such things existed)? I've so far never gotten a quest aimed at a non-human settlement. I've only seen one vampire out of a town/village so far, and that was a goblin vampire who sat in a lair.
