Lives of Adventurer's
« on: January 19, 2013, 04:30:41 am »

I've been inspired by InsanityIncarnate. I noticed the story he wrote and I think that's a brilliant Idea. I figured well a chance to get some writing down, practice and all, and hopefully I'll humor you guys with the numerous ways I tend to die.

Ametha Amiyaiti (InsanityIncarnate)

Elathu Asada

Character Name: Luthi Stopfound
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

BTW I am writing in first person.

I sighed as I exited out into the streets of Zegasenid. I was old enough to become the Hero of my hamlet, so I entered the houses around me in search of followers. I searched six buildings and only found a single swordsmen agreeing to follow me if I lead him to a glorious and honorable death.
I looked at him in an awkward way when he agreed to follow me. I wasn't planning on dying anytime soon. This man was just asking for death. I shrugged it off and continued my search for followers. There weren't any other buildings in sight, so I traveled to a different part of the hamlet.
The snow around us was melting as I walked in and out of buildings. I was down on my luck, six more buildings and not a single follower. I traveled once again to a different area. I find much larger buildings than before. A few more people in them as well. I find myself in an intriguing conversation with a Siege Engineer. He tells me how the streets would be safer if nights beasts no longer stalked the darkness. He tells me Swallowdrink is a short walk northwest and he wishes me to kill Bekat Woundcats... A vampire. A violent vampire who took the lives of nine hundred and eighty-seven.
I was astounded by this. I couldn't say no. A real life vampire... I've only heard stories of such beasts prowling the night. I've read books from the library... the private section... it says if you manage to slay a vampire, you can gain its power by drinking its blood. I've asked many people about this... but none seemed to know what I was talking about. My swordsmen brother and I agreed to venture out and find this beast and together become powerful. We heard of a local goblin fortress just north of our hamlet. We had to take extra precaution as to not get cornered by goblin scum.
It didn't take us long to find Swallowdrink. We made our short journey through Kugmerabab, a small jungle. My Brother and I took caution as we explored the hamlet in search for Bekat. Houses came into view and we both became even more anxious not only to meet the vampire but to kill him. We stopped at the well and claimed water to drink. Now refreshed we continued to travel through Swallowdrank in search of our goal. It seemed that everyone hated the vampire. We might not even have to tangle with the beast if we are lucky.
No wonder this vampire killed so many. This town had no soldiers... mercenaries... garrison of any sort. Just as I was about to give up, I found an Axeman. I asked him to join me, but the crummy bastard laughed in my face. I left cursing at him. We continued our search for the vampire. In and out of houses. No luck.
I talked to a few villagers who seemed to know a lot about Bekat. I can't say I still wish to find him. They have informed me that they have no clear evidence that he is in fact a vampire. I'll have to find him and ask him myself. My brother and I both are startled when we actually walk into the vampires house. He is wearing a human tooth bracelet. We confront him. I start subtle asking him if he as any work for me to do. To his knowledge, there is another vampire. One known as Edi Watchedbells. This vampire has claimed a larger number of three thousand forty-six. My brother and I stared in awe. I came here with a job to do and hope for power. Possible power to help me kill the new vampire.
I accuse him of being a vampire. He quickly calls out his name and begins to attack. I cry out as the Vampire ignores me and attacks the child standing next to him. I stand back as the inhabitants wreck havoc upon the vampire. The vampire cries out after being attacked all at once so many times. It becomes enraged. It's not long before the vampire was struck down. Everyone covered in blood. It's lifeless body sprawled out on the ground. My brother already claiming its blood from his blade. I quickly run over and ask him if he feels any different. Informing him that he has to wait at least twenty-four hours for it to take any effect.
I bash the body blood on my morning star. I too claim its power. The taste was salty and I asked for permission to stay the night at the current abode. I am given the right. We both wait, waiting for the power to seep into our veins.
I awaken from falling asleep. I'm actually pretty thirsty now. I leave the house and head to the well.

I drank endless amounts of water till I couldn't drink no more. I still felt thirsty. My brother was also complaining about him being thirsty as well. I tried to think back to what I had read. Vampires drink blood... if we drink their blood then we gain their powers. I hope I did not completely misinterpret what I read. Gaining their powers... becoming a vampire? No... this couldn't be. I was standing out in the sun, I wasn't burning like the book said. I turned to my brother. I asked him if we should drink human blood. He didn't agree nor disagree. Come on I said looking for a house with few inhabitants. Being a vampire is a crime... I hope I don't get screwed. I found my target. A fishermen with no family to speak of. If anything bad happens he won't be missed. I rest in his home. I feel the cool breeze of nighttime. I sneak over to the sleeping fishermen. Being gentle and delicate I bite into him.
I feel his blood being sucked from him. I keep my hand on his pulse to keep him from dying. I sit back feeling so refreshed. I sigh wiping the blood from my face. I found myself allured to his blood leaving his body in slight amounts. I lean back over and lick the blood from him. I bite into him again enjoying... savoring... the taste of it. It actually tasted a lot like fish. I stood and left the building, my Brother claiming his fill as well on some unsuspecting prey.
I have his power... that vampire gave me his power... wait... I am a vampire... what do I do... will these people attack me on sight? I sneak out of the building. I sit by the well. I feel his power in me. I feel so different. I feel... like I'm the most powerful being in the world! These people don't have to know... I'll become a god!
I waited for the sun to come out. I left in search of this... other vampire. Somewhere near, Bekat had told me. I head west in search of the creatures hide out. After sometime the sun was rising when we found the his lair. We took caution as we entered. I examined the walls noticing that they were tetrahedrite and microcline. We both say nothing, we have lumps in our throats. It is just us. No crazed villagers this time.
It was passageway after passageway after passageway. It was scary thinking what he might do to us. We continued on. I gasped as the creature jumped out at me spotting me instantly. It was no guy... I knew she was a girl for she stood naked before me. My brother and I quickly attack the vampire. I bashed it over the arm first cutting several nerves, it attacked me but I dodged and counterattacked lodging my morning star into her left upper arm. My brothers first attack was a miss, but he attacked again tearing apart the muscle cutting a severe artery in her left upper leg. Something I failed to realize before is that HE... was a SHE as well.
Hey sweet, I'm a little girl sandwich here. I smiled as I strike again but I miss. My sister attacked and struck the vampire in the right lower leg. I heard the bone crack. Unable to use my morning star I used my shield to attack. I bashed her in the head with my shield bruising the muscle, jamming her skull through her brain, and tearing her brain.
We looked at each other as she slunk to the floor. Three Thousand deaths... and she couldn't stop us. WE MUST BE THE MOST POWERFUL VAMPIRES ALIVE!

After waiting at the spot looking at her lifeless body. We got up to leave. I turned back and picked up her body. This time we left. We traveled back through the endless tunnels and outside. On our travels back, I talked to my sister. She explained to me about how she had a husband. They had been married in 1049, a year ago. She told me she feared she could never go home, now that she was a vampire. I calmed her and told her not to worry. I told her to keep her business on the down low and if he truly loved her he would accept her new way of life.
I reported the death to a cook. His word got around, and I asked him if he had more work. While he thought about it, I noticed none of them seemed to know we were vampires. The task he came up with was rather unusual. It was a half day's travel south... but to find Smumu Lakemin... a cave fish man vampire. I looked at him, like seriously. He nodded and told us how many he had killed. One Hundred Ninety-Eight... Really? I was astounded by the number he had killed. It's a cave fish man... come on. I turned to my sister and she nodded as she to heard the task.
We began to travel south as requested. We continued to travel south when we met up with a wounded man. He didn't look like he would make it. He claimed to know of such strange structures protruding from the ground. He had thirty men with him... he was the only survivor. He climbed back in his boat as passed out. He told us of such power being held in these towers... that the slabs and books that hold it should be destroyed. He died before he could tell us where exactly they were. We had to cross the Ino Athrab, the sea to our west.
I rolled his body into a river and watched it disappear. Did you hear that sister! Power beyond our reckoning! We can claim it for ourselves!? She told me he said it was evil... yet we were two good guys. We can stop the evil and use it's power for good! We agreed like usual and continued to our current objective.
As we traveled we got ambushed by multiple goblins. "You will remember the Poisoned Grubs when we're finished with you!" they called. We got ready for combat. "Oh god! Oh know!" I cried as a copper bolt ripped through her copper breast plate bruising her muscle and piercing her left lung. She fell back as she was having breathing problems. She got surrounded quickly by the other goblins while I dealt with crossbow. I bashed the goblin in its left lower arm while i slammed into it. I looked back seeing my sister being stabbed in her right upper leg. She fell over, they weren't going to let her live. I bashed the goblin again this time in the hand shattering the bone. I can't have it using the crossbow when i try to go help my sister. A goblin punched her in the side of the head bruising her skull.
I turned to the goblin again and attacked but my attack was parried. The noises that followed were that of my comrade in arms being slain. An iron sword shoved through the side of her head killing her.
"NO!" I cried swinging my morning star down hard on the crossbow goblins head, shattering the skull and tearing it's brain. I turned to face four more goblins... charging at me.

I knew the day had been lost. I began to run away, shortly running into a group of camels. The goblins were catching up. The goblin with the axe soon got me, I turned and aimed for his leg. I tried to run again but they are to close. I turn to attack again. I hit the goblin in the hand breaking it forcing him to drop his shield. They fall back to regroup.
I need to get my sisters body. That's all I could think about. I must kill them to get past them. I charged. I see the goblin axeman fall over in pain. I get punched in the foot. I strike the goblin closest to me in the left hand, my morning star gets stuck! The other is planning to attack. I resort to my shield to hopefully cause some damage. The third goblin is still charging. I hit what seems to be the goblin captain, with my shield. They attack but they can't aim and seem to miss. The goblin spearman stabs me in my left upper arm. I drop my shield. There's a lot of dodging and misses. I hit the goblin swordsman in the head killing him. Three down two to go. I can't help but notice that I'm bleeding. I don't care as I continue to attack! I get stabbed in the right upper arm. I drop my morning star. I throw both my knives but the Captain dodges both. He remains on me trying to kill me!
After many misses and dodges, I try to kick the captain. I miss and he counters beating me up with his fists. I am mad, I should be killing this guy! I constantly try to grab him around the throat. Maybe I can strangle him. I continue to crawl on the ground. I can't do much else... I can't stand nor grasp things. The captain is very crafty with his feet. He dodges everything I throw at him. I crawl to the axeman in hopes of attacking him but I'm rather useless. I can't hit anything. The captain continues to beat me with his fists and his feet!
I bite the axeman, he'll lose consciousness soon before he strikes me with his axe again. I have latched onto him firmly! After several misses and strange attacks I become enraged! A series of attacks and I miss them all! I lose my state of being enraged! There's nothing I can do! I try to crawl away! As I'm crawling away he continues to beat me, I have lost most of my teeth. Nighttime is falling. I might lose him in the darkness!
I see something! A ruined house! I must be near a town or village! "Help!" I cry out! Nobody hears me. I have to get closer! I'm crawling through fields. There has to be a town nearby! There it is! I see it, a house... please let there be someone inside who will help me. I crawl to the door. I am saved! The house had three people! A thresher, a brewer and a farmer... they came to my rescue instantly! The goblin captain stands and fights! The brewer and thresher stab him without a care with their carving knives. He becomes enraged. I collect the freshly amputated right hand of the goblin and place it in my bag.
I lay down watching the villagers kill the goblin! I had her body... that's all i cared about. I have to heal so I can take her back home. The goblin captain soon was cut enough times to bleed to death. I sighed happily knowing that I could heal in peace. These people just saved me but I sure am thirsty... I target the brewer. I lick my lips as I proceed inside the house ignoring the brewer if he was ok or not. I put on my sisters copper breastplate armor.
I fall asleep...

When I woke up, I left the newly infested house and headed towards the center of town. A castle where I proceeded to look for assistance with either my wounds or my travels. I am still very wounded, my movement is very slow. It is hard trying to get around. A maceman patrolling the center of the castle greets me and agrees to join me on my travels. I enter the center keep... finally... and meet a hammerman who agrees to join me as well. Crawling up one of the towers I find a crossbowman who also joins me. I figure this is enough and head towards the exit. My arms and knees are getting raw from crawling around so much.
I began to cry lightly. My first combat sister was killed brutally. I wasn't able to save her. I have to do what I told her I would do! I will find the books of power! There has to be some sort of power that can bring her back! I fear however that my time has come. I can not do this without my legs or arms. I will have my brother do it for me. He should be turning of age soon!
I have my companions carry me. We head to my home village. We cross the land and we soon come to a stop. My home is just over there. My brother shall be there, I will speak with him!
(That's the End of Luthi Kirospumik. I'll make his brother here in a few minutes!)

Kemsa Stopfound
My brother told me where I could collect his pre-adventure gear. He told me what I had to do. I was skeptical at first but he made a lot of sense. He told me to meet him up at his house. That's a long ways up north. Well I have to get me some of my friends together and head up there. I got to one of my friends houses and talk to her about joining. She was more than happy to travel with me. I had a few other friends I was hoping to get but we'll see for now.
I tried to find them. They were garrisoned here in town, so I couldn't be sure what house they would be in. Something he wrote in his letter keeps my mind really boggled. Find a vampire and claim its power. I don't understand what that means. I wasn't all into the whole vampire thing when we were kids. I was more into learning how to kill things with a sword. Killing vampires, werebeasts, goblins, and bandits.
After sometime I found one of my good friends. We trained in our fencing class together. He also agreed to join us, and now if I can find my other friends I can leave. I'm keeping my business short. I don't want them knowing what I'm up to. My brother told me not to speak of it to anyone, my eyes only. I couldn't find my other friends. They must have left on to their own adventures. Two should be safe enough to get to my brothers house.
We left the town and traveled north. We grow tired and stop at a close-by hamlet. Sleep and possible recruiting of more men. No luck finding men, I find myself talking to a miller. In the process of asking him for a place to sleep he tells me that there is a place, Leechhollow, half a day away. This place has the Memothi Doubcolumn, an Olm Woman Vampire. This vampire has killed twenty-one, not a huge number but still we have to be cautious. My brother told me to claim the power of the vampire. Not sure how do this, but slaying one is the first step.
I stay the night at the house and at dawn we left. On our trip, we grow hungry. We stop for water and food... unfortunately our water has frozen. It should thaw later on in the day. We get to our location. There are a lot of abandoned shops here. I enter a general goods imports store. In the backroom which I entered there is a chest with a lot of money in it. Stealing is wrong I know, but... he wouldn't know.
I open the chest and take out its contents. 3000 Copper Coins in my pocket, next up is 600 Silver, then 200 Gold. My hands begin to sweat as the Goblin Merchant could walk in at any moment. 600 Silver Coins in my pocket. Last thing is here... I sigh quietly reach my hand in taking it. 200 Gold Coins... That was close. Well... I should probably get out of here now. Well I'll see what he has to sell first.
I raise up a conversation with the goblin merchant. This merchant has a lot of good armor. I browse through what he has. After sometime I leave not buying anything. I have a vampire I need to hunt down. We walk past the sanctum of love. What an odd temple that was. While wandering the streets of this city, I run across an armorsmiths shop. Naturally I do what I always do, I walk in and see what he has for sell.
Slightly feeling guilty for stealing from that goblin, I realize that he should be paying me to protect him. I end up spending 1542 for some decent copper armor. I should now probably find a clothes shop to replace the rest of my clothing. I continue to travel through the town finding a sewer entrance. I delve into it with my few allies.
The sewers are dark and we are hunting for an Olm Master. A second task we received. There are a lot of corpses down here. Olm, Human, Goblin... It smells like decay. Following the bodies should lead us to the master. I found a blowgun on the ground and picked it up along with its ammo. We walk right into a dead end.

We turn around and continue searching the sewers. The rotting decay of flesh is getting to us. We reach the entrance and this time head north. Some time traveling north we come across a body. I pick up the iron crossbow and loot him as well. We continue on and on the other side of the sewer I saw a spear and shield. I would have to round back and get it.
We follow the sewer to another dead end. I curse as I turn around and head back. I had to head back down and around to get that spear and shield. I saw another passageway south of the entrance so we began to head that way as well. On our way back down we saw a secondary path way from our current way. We began to explore it. That Olm Master was down here somewhere and he is going to be slain this day. I curse as we were walking when I noticed another spear and shield on the opposite side of me. My luck is down today, all the loot and weapons are away from me.
Another dead end. I just hate this darkness and not being able to see where I'm going. The sewers were empty. We left and found the closest house we could. Deciding to find and hunt the vampire was our new priority. It wasn't long until we found the next sewer entrance. Since we're here we might as well search it.
We enter the sewers. Explore a little finding some more spears and shields. This sewer is empty as well. We head out.
