Rich child
« on: November 25, 2007, 08:17:00 pm »

Somehow one of the children (who has no parents; he came as a migrant I think).  He managed to amass quite a bit of wealth and rents one of the more expensive rooms in my fortress (it rents for around 900).  I'm just wondering how the little scamp managed to amass the kind of wealth that he has (his account has a few thousand).

yes, that's very strange. children generally tend to be very rich - it's propably a flaw in the game, hopefully it will be changed soon.

Dwarf kids are just more spoiled then human kids.

Do children inherit their parent's money? That might explain it.

no it has nothing to do with inheritance. i had childs born in my fortress, raised by their peasant parents (they only had a few coins...). it's just a flaw in the game - there is no rational explanation for the children's wealth.

Little child dwarf's fingers can get in those tiny holes were adult dwarf's fingers can't. All the riches come from rat's hoards and the likes. Makes perfect sense. No flaw.

One child that was born in my fortress actually seems to always have the same amount of money as his mother.  But the kid I'm talking about has no parents.  It just seems weird.

Children have the accumulated income of both their parents and whatever they own themselves.

In the past, this lead to children quickly monopolizing the shops and becoming millionaires.

You know how flies are formed from dirt and rotten meat?
Well gold is formed from childrens hands.

All that stuff you dig up? It's been buried by bored children with -Wooden Spade-s.
